About Us

Our Mission

The mission of the Black American Register of Bailey's Crossroads, Virginia, is commendable and vital for preserving the historical legacy of the community. By aiming to register every black family that has lived in Bailey's Crossroads, the organization is contributing significantly to the documentation of local history and culture. The steps to publish this information for archiving purposes in various esteemed institutions demonstrate a commitment to making this valuable historical data accessible to a wider audience.

Reason

The initiative to document and preserve the history of black communities in Fairfax County, specifically those like Hearntown, Williamstown, Cooktown, Oak Grove, and Cartersville, is incredibly important. Historical plaques are valuable in recognizing the existence of these communities, but by documenting the families that made up these vibrant neighborhoods, we are taking a crucial step in ensuring that their stories and contributions are not erased.
